The Ahaadeeth of our Noble Prophet Muhammad (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him are replete with narrations expounding the great significance of Reciting and Practising upon the Qur’an Majeed.

Hadhrat Maalik bin Anas (Radhiallahu Anhu) reports that Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) has mentioned: “I have left in your midst two things. As long as you hold firmly to both of them, you will never go astray. (The two things are) The Book of Allah (Qur’an) and the Sunnah of His Rasool.”

Allah Ta’ala’s great bounty and favour upon mankind is that He has through the passage of time, from Aadam (Peace Be Upon him) always deputed the Messengers for the benefit and guidance of mankind. Whenever mankind became involved in Disbelief, Assigning partners to Allah, evil and sin, Allah Ta’ala through his mercy deputed one of His chosen servants to guide them.

An era came when Allah deputed Our Nabi (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) as the last prophet for the guidance of all Mankind up to the Day of Judgement.

As there is no prophet to come after Nabi Muhammad (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon him), He has informed us that after his demise there would never be a need to give in to despair.

The Holy Qur’an and the lifestyle and teachings of our Prophet (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) constitute the timeless representation of all that is good in this world and the hereafter.

‘If you cling firmly to them you will never go astray.’

The Holy Qur’an: It is the word and speech of Allah Ta’ala. In it there is complete guidance pertaining to all aspects of human life.

It also contains knowledge and wisdom that constitute a solution to all possible challenges and problems that we experience in this life as well as a protection against the hardships of the hereafter.

Success in both the worlds is guaranteed for the person who follows the teachings of the Qur’an.

Hence it is imperative that all Muslims engage in the Learning the Holy Qur’an from all possible angles. For those of us who experience difficulty in Reciting the Qur’an, now is the time to actively learn how to recite the Qur’an with all its rules of proper recitation.

There is never an age limit to any form of learning. How much in terms of wealth, effort and time is expended in acquiring knowledge so that we can be prosperous in our lives? Every effort is made to ensure that our children receive the best in education so that they can build careers for themselves and earn a respectable living.

Why then should a Muslim ever have to feel shy to learn about that Book that will only bring enormous benefits and rewards to its dedicated reciter?

The Sunnah: By it is meant all the words and actions of our Prophet (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) and includes also those actions that the Sahaaba practised in his presence and he neither prevented nor rebuked them for doing them. The life of our Prophet (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him) also serves as the perfect demonstration of the accumulative teachings of the Holy Qur’an.

Allah is ever patient for his servants to relent unto Him. We should therefore always take advantage of the life-long opportunity that Allah has made available to us to not only serve Him but learn about the beautiful ways in which we can attain his pleasure and Blessings.

May Allah grant us the strength and inspiration to follow the injunctions of The Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah according to the way shown to us by his Beloved Nabi (Allah’s Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him). Aameen
