Ramadan is the blessed month where not only He, The Creator, listens to all the asked and unasked prayers, and where every Muslim exerts for His nearness. Quran is the literal speech of Almighty God to his Prophet (PBUH) for the followers and believers of all the times and this was sent during this Holy month of Ramadan as Quran says:
"Ramadan is the (month) in which the Qur'an was sent down, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting."
Muslims are encouraged to recite, read, understand and follow each verse of Quran regularly, but the above Ayah depicts the intimate relationship of Quran recitation with the month of Ramadan. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite Quran to Jibrael for once at least in every Ramadan, and Muslims emulate this practice by reciting the Quran as many times as possible during this month. Its recitation is traditionally followed during Taraweeh prayer every night during the whole month.
Our relationship with the Quran must be very strong, for it being the path to all the destinations and solution to all the difficulties, but unfortunately, our lives are so engaged with this worldly temporary management, that we often forget to consult the best guide bestowed upon us. Ramadan is the month to modify the behavior by improving the quantity, and timing of our recitation. During the condition of fasting, when our heart and soul are softened and we are away from our social and physical requirements, the recitation becomes most enchanting and soulful activity. Its every word being the healer penetrates the empty holes of soul and fills them with light of Quran verses.
Rasulallah (Sallallahu Alaihi wasallam) says: “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a Hasanah (good deed) from it (i.e. his recitation), and the hasanah is multiplied by ten during Ramadan. I do not say that Alif-Laam-Meem is (considered as) a letter, rather Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter, and Meem is a letter.” [At-Tirmidhi, Ad-Darimi]
So, the blessings of recitation Quran are multiplied by ten during the month in which Qura was sent, while those who struggle to read the Quran are further awarded double. So why waste time, let’s start the most peacefull and blessed worship to gain maximum rewards and be nearer to the Almighty.
